With her team, they produced the 2012 Gaborone Fashion Weekend, featuring international fashion and movie stars like Yay Da Costa, Quincy Brown-Combs, and Alfredo Flores, as well as Botswana’s own Emma Wareus. Following this success, she then pursued a freelance and entrepreneurial career, building a diverse clientele in advertising, diamond sales, hospitality, insurance, and leadership and training. Event Safety
Across Africa, various Acts, Regulations, Standards, and Bylaws mandate that every event appoint a competent event safety officer to ensure the safety of attendees. Severe penalties apply if an event safety officer is not appointed or if the appointed person is deemed incompetent based on their qualifications and work experience. Tebatso recently completed the SACIA Event Safety online course, a comprehensive 12-module program. The base curriculum was derived from the Event Safety Guide published by the Event Safety Alliance in the USA. Subject matter experts also referenced various legislations, guides, standards, and codes of practice relevant to the events industry worldwide, ensuring a robust and practical training experience.

The event safety training course provided a comprehensive overview of various crucial aspects, including: • Role and Responsibilities: Understanding the duties of an event safety officer. • Standards and Legislation: Exploring applicable standards, bylaws, legislation, and codes of practice in the events industry. • Safety Planning: Preparation of an event safety file, safety planning, and management. • Major Incident Planning: Using relevant examples from facilitators' experiences. • Traffic and Transport: Managing systems for traffic and transport, and the movement of people. • Hazard Identification: Conducting Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and complying with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. • Risk Categorization: Understanding SAPS Risk Categorization, permit applications, and the role of city authorities in creating safe events. • Event Safety Committees: Establishing an Event Safety & Security Planning Committee. • Fire and Medical Safety: Ensuring fire safety, ambulance support, and first aid in an event environment. • Communication: Effective communication within an event environment, adhering to ICASA regulations.
